How do I explain a huge 9 month gap in my CV?

Basically I have a few problems securing employment in the last 9 months. I have not only failed to secure employment completely but it would have only been 6 months because I thought I was starting a teacher training course, which fell through for various reasons.

I don't want to say to an employer, I intend to become a teacher one day and that I have been useless at securing a job. I want to come up with an ingenious excuse which will make them think "oh it's not so bad", whilst also explaining why I have done nothing apart from apply for jobs in the last 9 months.

If it's any help, i'm part of a drama group. I was thinking of lying and saying we'd been touring but then they'd surely ask for a reference.

If I were you I would not mention it until they ask. However as you will be writing a covering letter, I would tell them that in recent months you have been focusing on your drama group and now wish to return to work.

Remember it is not unusual for people to be out of work in times like this so don't worry too much.

It might be worthwhile when interviewing just dropping in that you were waiting on a teacher training course however it fell through and then adding well it was a blessing in disguise because for various reasons you realised it wouldn't have been right for you. Sounds like you were more in control during that time of unemployment. Good luck

Skydiving Question?

In a few weeks im taking a huge road trip and I think skydiving would make it so memorable.
Im looking on all these sites and they say you need a uspa liscense
Cant you just take a training course, get in the plane and jump out?
Is there anywhere where you can do this?

Yeah, it is called Army Freefall school, in Yuma, AZ.

But, if you don't fell like joining up to do this, I believe there are classes you can take. I think there is a minimum number of jumps you have to do with the instructor, then it is up to you.
