I can. 4th division Halifax Town 1 Manchester City 0 - 3rd Round, 5 January 1980. The television cameras were on hand to see midfielder Paul Hendrie write himself into Halifax Town folklore by sweeping home the 75th minute winner against Malcolm Allison’s expensive First Division Manchester City, whose side included in their ranks former England keeper Joe Corrigan and million pound player Steve Daley. Halifax Town keeper John Kilner was in inspired form in a game that was in doubt because of thawing snow and ice which quickly turned the pitch into something resembling a mud bath. I was a member of the traveling fans on the day in question, and aside from obviously losing the game, the two things that remain most memorable about the day in question was the football program which I purchased, which was like an A4 sheet of paper folded in two, and that bloody pitch, there wasn't a blade of grass on it, just mud!
