What is the difference between light sport and experimental light sport?

was reading around and wonder what the difference between the two is.im 19 years old and I am always making wishlists. should I go for light sport or ultralight aircraft? looking for a 2 seater with enough stability to handle mild crosswinds. needs to be able to cover 200 miles between stops and needs to run on unleaded pump gas. any suggestions?
also, how hard is it to get an LAS license and what would be the expected cost?

If you want to travel with some level of comfort then a Light Sport wins over an "ultralight" Most ultralights are one person open air no cabin type aircraft. The LSA's will be faster and enclosed.

The difference between a certified LSA and an experimental LSA is "who built the aircraft" experimental are usually built by the owner/pilot where as certified LSA's are built by the manufacturer such as Cessna.
