Ultralight Helicopter Parts
How to fly a helicopter?
If I go out and buy this little ultralight chopper, no license required, how do I learn to fly it? I have no desire to "bust" a certain part of my anatomy trying to learn. If only I can fit in the aircraft how can someone teach me? Thank you all.
I would guess that the manufacturer has a two seat model available to train new uncertified owners on. You might also want to check your insurance coverage.
Learning to fly a helicopter is most similar to a small child learning to ride a bike.
Go out and try to ride your bike as *slowly* as possible. It can be done, but you are constantly making quick and small adjustments to keep from falling over. The experience is analagous to hovering a helicopter in some respects.
Helicopters are the same way on a larger scale. You are learning the proper control inputs to balance forces in many directions simultaneously. Unlike a bike, you're going to break a lot of expensive stuff or kill yourself long before you're going to teach yourself to fly a helicopter successfully.
This is what happens if you don't have proper instruction:

A safe way to get the same learning experience that the guy in the video above got is to buy a copy of MS flight sim and try to take off and land the small helicopter in full realism mode with a full joystick, collective, and rudder setup.
Then keep in mind that flight sim in full realism mode is still only about 75% realistic plus it doesn't have nearly all of the switches and equipment of the real thing.
(I love that video) That guy is a lucky muther.
Flight Sim is NOT a substitute for real training, but it will help you get a head start cheaply.
Helicopters are inherently unstable and can be very unforgiving of mistakes and damage.

With a lot of experience, and tough equipment, some amazing things can be done.
