Does anyone have recipes for sangria, a very good one?

I am going to make a good sangria, but i don't have any good recipes. Can anyone help me?

There is really one cardinal rule in making sangria: use decent ingredients.

They don't have to be expensive, but they should be things that you'd generally be happy to eat and drink by themselves. The fruit NEEDS to be fresh.

Other than that, you can basically follow this template:

1 bottle of wine
1/4 Cup of spirits
2 Cups of fruit
Club soda to taste.

You can either make a white or red sangria, you can use whatever kind of fruit you like (but it should be matched to your wine), same goes for the spirits you use.

Classically sangria is made with Rioja, but any kind of dry red will do in a pinch. If you can find it, I'd strongly recommend Luzon* or Albal Liza** for reds. They're cheap and they're very good. If you don't normally drink brandy of any sort, and don't want to break the bank, buy a pint of E&J or something like that and add a shot of that and a shot of triple sec then slice an orange a lemon and a lime into thin rounds and put all of the stuff together in a pitcher and let sit overnight. Right before you serve add a couple of cups of club soda and a couple of cups of ice.

Piano trios are not rare, and even exceptional pianists find great challenge in making them exciting. Malinverni, 41 years old at the time of this date, chooses to shade the mainstream jazz he plays in more subtle ways, punctuating the melodies with rich, lustrous elements of sound and swing. Bassist Dennis Irwin and drummer Leroy Williams are chosen to support the leader. They are more than merely adequate; in fact, they add their own professional sheen and brilliance to these eight tracks and six standards, two written by Malinverni. Malinverni plays in New York City clubs, but also has regular engagements -- Sunday mornings in church. His original romp "Courtin' the Muse" and the easy bop singer "Projection" reflects the Greenwich Village jazz club/after midnight at Bradley's concept. The former has Williams effortlessly moving from Afro-Cuban excitement to brimming, simmering swing; the latter sports Malinverni's heightened melodic sense รก la Bud Powell-Kenny Drew-Chick Corea. Duke Ellington's "Angelica" (a.k.a. "Purple Gazelle") is typically elfin and spritely, bouncing off walls of blue emotion. On the more introspective side there's the obvious spiritual quality of "Steal Away/My Lord, What a Morning." A similar reverentiality buoys the pretty, straight but somber "It Was a Very Good Year," inspired by Frank Sinatra's chronological musings. "Imagination" is the tenderest of ballads in Malinverni's hands. "Blue in Green" takes the Bill Evans/Miles Davis evergreen into a litling, field-of-daisies waltz done in a drastically different key (D-flat instead of B-flat). All in all, this is a beautifully conceived trio date -- one that, in the raft of these kinds of recordings, should not be sussed over. Recommended. ~ Michael G. Bad For Good: the Very Best of Scorpions

Bad For Good: the Very Best of Scorpions

Clocking in at 79 minutes and 55 seconds, the Scorpions have yet another greatest-hits compilation, this 2002 release on Hip-O entitled Bad for Good: The Very Best of the Scorpions. Two brand-new recordings can be found closing out the disc on tracks 17 and 18, produced again by Dieter Dierks, who is represented on 11 of the dozen-and-a-half titles here. Both songs, "Cause I Love You" and "Bad for Good," are in-the-pocket Scorpions performances, the kind of thing longtime fans expect, which the Scorpions wisely oblige. The six pages of Gerri Miller's liner notes, written in 2002, don't give too much detail on these new tracks, but the essay is a great overview of the group's career and is as essential as the 96k/24-bit mastering used on this single-disc CD. Though Universal had already released a 12-song 20th Century Masters -- The Millennium Collection: The Best of Scorpions in 2001, and more than two and a half hours on 1997's 33-track Deadly Sting: The Mercury Years, Bad for Good: The Very Best of the Scorpions does live up to the title. Sure, "Rock You Like a Hurricane," "Loving You Sunday Morning," and "No One Like You" all invert and pervert that wonderful Pete Townshend riff from "I Can't Explain," but they are such wonderful and highly creative inversions which sound great alongside that Who gem, produced here in fine fashion by Bruce Fairbairn, that the Scorpions rock harder than the Who, polishing the grit of AC/DC and fusing the two sounds of those ensembles to create a very accessible and commercial formula. If you are into the group you can just hit play and repeat, for every track is a winner. The booklet contains whatever chart positions the songs may have obtained (mostly on the U.S. album rock charts). ~ Joe Viglione, Rovi
