What does it mean if something is listed as the first few ingredients on a product's container?
One of the most common dieting tips I've read and heard is that one should avoid processed food that lists sugar as one of the first three (or five) ingredients. Is there a more sinister (or mundane) reason why ingredients are listed in a certain order?
The ingredients are listed in quantity. If the first ingredient is sugar then theres more sugar, followed by ingredients with a lesser quantity.
For example on my canister of Oats the ingredients read: 100% rolled oats as thats the only ingredient in the can.

How do I get a stock listed on a stock exchange?
What are the procedures a company has to go through before they can be listed at the major exchanges?
The first step in going from privately held to publicly held is typically, if not exclusively, through an IPO, which I believe places some restrictions on the sale of the stock by the initial purchasers during a window of time. At this point, the stock is still over-the-counter, if I'm not mistaken.
Unless the company has already made a name for itself, it is likely to have to prove itself "worthy" of the "high standards" of the stock exchange, a tongue-in-cheek jab at the self-congratulatory attitude the stuffed-shirt conservative elitists at the exchanges have of themselves.
