The plane decelerates through the intersection at a rate of 5.70meters squared and clears its final speed of 45.0meters/sec. How much time is needed to clear the intersection?

travel distance to clear the intersection:
D = 59.7 + 25 = 84.7m

a = 5.7 m/s^2
Vfinal = 45 m/s

D = Vinit * t - a*t^2 / 2
Vinit = Vfinal + a*t

D = (Vfinal +a*t) * t - 0.5 * a * t^2
D = Vfinal * t + 0.5 * a * t ^2

84.7 = 45*t + 0.5* 5.7*t^2
