Engine Brake
What is wrong with a car when you brake and the engine dies?
For example, when I get to a stop sign or stop light and I press the brake pedal to slow down the car dies. Then I have to restart the car and go. And that happens all the time over and over again.
It could be almost anything, from minor, like needing a little idle adjustment, to major, like needing a new engine.

Why my car engine stops when I push the brake?
I have a 1999 Chrysler Intrepid. When I am on the highway (a higher speed) and push the brakes a little stronger, it kills the engine. After that, it happens again even if the speed is not so high, unless I don't start the engine for like 15-20 minutes.
It could be a vapor lock occuring, or your injector jets are clogging.
Take it in for a tune up and they'll check the injection pressure to see if one or more of the jets are clogged.
