Guppy Sport

Two questions: Snails in my aquarium from the plants, and black sports on my guppies?
Hi everyone! I have two questions;
1. I recently bought new plants, and I have noticed that there are little snails (one or two) in my aquarium living on a leaf. Last week two of my guppies dies. Do these snails pose a threat?
2. Some of my guppies are pregnant, and I have noticed a black spot where the poo comes out. Some people say this is a sign that they are pregnant, others say it means they wil give birth in the next week. What does it mean exactly?
1> no they won't pose a threat to your guppies
but you will have to watch the snails, because they quickly overpopulate your tank in no time
if you want to get rid of them at some point try the lettuce method bye just putting a piece of it in a small water bottle, submerse it into your tank and take it out the next day
you might have to repeat it a few times until all the snails are gone, or if you have only a few left
2> that's the so called gravid spot, and means that your guppy is pregnant, it doesn't mean that it gives birth in a matter of a few days though
haven't seen a guppy without a gravid spot yet
if it was near a male, then it's definitely pregnant
here is also an article for you to read up on
http://www.fishlesscycling.com/articles/breeding_tropical_fish.html
that your guppies have died, can have many reason
sickness, bad water parameters, weak already when bought,..... for that i would need to know more
how long the tank has been setup, water parameters like ammonia, nitrAtes and nitrites, how many waterchanges and how much you do

Robert John Lechmere Guppy $108.33 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles Robert John Lechmere Guppy (August 15, 1836 in London August 5, 1916 in San Fernando, Trinidad and Tobago) was a Britishborn naturalist after whom the guppy is named. TNA iMPACT! (Video Game) PS2 Storymode Part 17 of 34
What are they???
I find this very odd. My aquarium, which started out with only guppies and gravel in it, now sports two LONG blades of grass, and some very small, clear, swimming 'things'. About 1mm wide and high, about 2mm long, they look almost like daphnea, but i've never seen it in real life before. The guppies won't touch them.
Huh?????
All i have is a webcam with poor resolution, so no pix. The gravel came from the back yard, but it's more dirt than weeds, and more weeds than grass. But it's about a foot long, so it could easily be ordinary grass. I'm surprised it hasn't drowned yet.
They're not fry. possibly large, round fleas, but clear? And they swim? Oh, and they also walk on the gravel a lot. Most of them stay low. Only a few 'babies' rise to be near the surface.
The tank was outside for years, with only the gravel and tree debris in it. I washed out the organics, but apparently not well enough.
Since your gravel came from your backyard, the possibility of picking up dormant daphnia eggs is very high, and that is what I think those bugs are.
I'm almost certain of this based on your description of it being "round fleas". There is a species of daphnia that exactly fits your description of it "walking in gravel". They do not swim much and sort of just crawl a few inches from the bottom. These do not stay at the water column. I have them in a half-barrel in my yard which is where I keep some of my guppies, too.
This species of daphnia is HARD-SHELLED and fish will not eat them. This kind of daphnia is different from the daphnia commonly sold as fish food. These are a bit larger, clear white, and rounder than the regular daphnia.
The "grass" could be any type of grass or weed found in your backyard. Sorry, I can't help you with this.
