I want a Mobile GPS?
I saw a video on youtube of a guy that had a GPS on his phone, and he was standing on a street, and his phone showed a map of where he was...and as he moved, the arrow on the map moved. I am planning on going backpacking through Europe with some friends this summer, and it will be the first time I have ever been there. I thought this would be very helpful. If I got the service for my phone, would it even work in Europe? If not, do they sell portable GPS devices that would do this? If so - what is the most affordable model? I want something cheap - since I would just be getting it for the trip, but I want it to work.
Get a TomTom. Verizon and AT&T phones with GPS will only work in the continuous 48 states. Make sure the TomTom you get includes maps of Europe.

Navman iCN 330 Portable GPS
Can anyone help me fix my TOMTOM GPS?
I have a UK tomtom One IQ routes edition GPS, i have now moved to canada and tried to install canadian maps onto it. This didnt work, after trying to install everything one by one, i finally get the error message; error during scanning for navigation items HomeBase/IO: Error reading file: F:united_kingdom_and_republic_of_irelandmapserverpatch.dat @ .portablecfile.cpp(1938) 00000570
Which now comes up every time i plug in my gps to the computer. If it is a corrupt file i can no longer remove it from my gps, nor can i use my gps in canada right now!
I downloaded the software off the tomtom website - having put in my tomtom make and model - surely this would mean software is compatable, or the UK tomtom site shouldnt have let me pay for and download the map?
tom tom has more than one type of software you can not just put in any countries map it has to be compatible with the software take it to a gps dealer and get the maps installed there
