What is the most efficient way to install solid rivets with a hammer?

I am required to install a few solid rivets for a client of mine. He wants to fix his old vintage chassis and says to only use solid rivets. This means NO welding.

Please explain whether I need to heat up the rivets beforehand, or not at all, and any special requirements needed. I would appreciate it if you had step-to-step instructions.

how big of rivets?
would your client mind you using a rivet gun or a huck bolt gun?

what you do is get a "air hammer" see link
and get the appropriate bucking tip attachment for the rivets that fits in the gun
and a "bucking bar" a solid steel bar or a heavy hammer will do just fine
it's a 2 man job
1 man on the gun end
and one man on the "bucking bar end"

you put the rivet in the hole and start to pull the trigger at the same time the other guy is on the other end of the rivet applying pressure
what happens is it squishes the rivet what your looking for is the "mushroom effect"

so all you need to buy is the "air hammer" the attachment and the rivets

the "air hammer" is useful for all types of jobs with the different attachments i use it all the time

how do you attach upholstery to a fiberglass motorcycle seat pan??

i want to make a custom seat for my bike. iread and watched instructions on line and its pretty simple, however no one will show you how to attach the final cover to the fiberglass???do you use rivets???

With pop rivets.
