How many frames per second does a camera have to have to handle a strobe light.?

I used a strobe light on some videos but even when I put the strobe light on a slow setting the flash itself is so quick the camera (30 fps) goes down to like 5 fps. It sux!

FPS should not change unless you can change it manually on your camcorder - but you did not tell us which camcorder, so we have no way to know if that is even possible.

Shutter speed might change (decrease), though (because you darkened the lights to use the strobe). What effect are you trying to do? The strobe and poor ambient lighting is confusing the automatic shutter speed, aperture and likely the focus. Put all into manual when the lighting is normal/good, then go to the strobe and see what happens.

How big of a room can a 35W strobe light light up?

I'm thinking of purchasing this strobe light:

My question is: What size room would this light be able to light up? I plan on using it in a room that is probably 450 square feet? Thank you.

You really need a little more horsepower for a bright light. I would prefer a 60 watt but a 35 will give you decent effects.
