Technology Library Collection

Are non-HD movies(older) released in Blu-Ray/HD-DVD any better than regular DVDs?
We know that HD is still in its infancy to the consumer. We also know that to come up with a true HD picture, it should start with an HD camera, right? Now if movies, even as recent as a few years back were shot using normal, non-HD (though better) cameras, and they will be issued in Blu-Ray/HD-DVD, will there be an improvement, say, playing a DVD up-converted to 720p/1080i? Do they have the technology to "remaster" movies, as in the case of audio?
The answer to this will definitely help DVD collectors, whether they should change their current collection or retain them, along with their new HD/Blu Ray discs library.
Most major motion pictures shot in the last 5 or so years were shot in 1080p60 resolution or higher. DVDs are obviously unable to store this resolution so they were down converted to 480i or 480p. Now that HDDVDs and Blu Rays are around, they're able to take advantage of that theater resolution.
Upconverted DVDs suck IMO. It just looks like someone turned the sharpness all the way up on your TV. There is no way to remaster film shot in 720 or 480 verticle lines into a true 1080i/p high def picture.

Library of Congress Subject Headings $68.51 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles The Library of Congress Subject Headings (LCSH) comprise a thesaurus (in the information technology sense) of subject headings, maintained by the United States Library of Congress, for use in bibliographic records. LC Subject Headings are an integral part of bibliographic control, which is the function by which libraries collect, organize and disseminate documents. LCSHs are applied to every item within a librarys collection, and facilitate a users access to items in the catalogue that pertain to similar subject matter. If users could only locate items by title or other descriptive fields, such as author or publisher, they would have to expend an enormous amount of time searching for items of related subject matter, and undoubtedly miss locating many items because of the ineffective and inefficient search capability. The Cambridge Library Collection - books of enduring scholarly value
Do you think you have lived through any revolutions?
I have, all the time. Technology and scientific revolutions.
Who remembers black and white television?
Televisions never even used to have remote controls.
CD's are now 25 years old.
Back in the 80's my record collection filled two cupboards.
In the 90's my cd collection filled two shelves.
Now my mp3 collection fills 2Gb.
Before the internet you had to go to the library to look things up.
Before the internet if you had a pen friend you were a nerd, now everybody has hundreds of them in their favourite chat rooms.
Twenty years ago looking at porn made you feel sleazy now it makes you pc literate.
Those few measly examples are from everyday life, goodness knows how things have changed in the medical and scientific world.
And how has any revolution affected you?
I actually lived through a real revolution, with people being killed and government overturned.
It changed my life completely, in every way possible.
Cultural and technological revolutions are very important as well for world's progress but cell phones and mp3 can't compare with freedom.
