Turbine Airplane Propeller

What is the difference between a normal airplane propeller and a turbine engine?

I know that a propeller uses the drag force to develop the thrust.

For example in airships they have 4 propellers and a turbine engine.

I dont understand why the turbine engine is needed. Why dont they just use the propellers for the thrust?

You are talking about two different systems.

A turbine engine is a power source just like an electric motor or a combustion engine like in your car. Turbine Engines are normally used in three applications.
To provide thrust, as in a jet engine
To provide compressed air, or
To provide mechanical power as in Turbo-jet engines or Turbine Generators.

A propeller is a device that converts rotational energy to thrust, whether it be in the air or in water as boats do.

Turbo-Fan Jet Engines combine the two principles. Externally ducted fans are shrouded propellers mounted on the front of the turbine to provide additional thrust in denser air encountered at low altitudes.
